International Buddhist College celebrates its Second Convocation ceremony on 2nd August 2009 with jubilation and honour for both academic members and graduates of IBC as they embrace their success and recognition.

The proceeding is accompanied by Venerable Wei Wu, the Chairman of IBC Council; Venerable Prof. KL Dhammajoti, the Rector of IBC; Prof. Charles Willemen, Vice Rector for Research and Postgraduate Studies; and many distinguished visiting and past lecturers. Starting with the Triple Gem Eulogy followed by lighting of the Lamp, the Venerable Rector declared the Convocation Open for Conferment of Degrees.

In addition, IBC is most privileged to have the presence of Professor Emeritus Y. Karunadasa who first conceived the idea of establishing such Buddhist educational institute as IBC with the primary vision of eventually developing it to the level of an international centre of excellence for Buddhist Studies. In his Convocation address, he spoke on “the World of Buddhism: A Search for the Common Ground”, highlighting the IBC trio tradition of Theravāda, Mahāyāna and Vajrayāna.
